Pereyra, Teubal & Barenboim - Tango 3
Based in New York, this trio has a new take on Argentine Tango, infusing the traditional sound of tango with jazz harmony. Teubal’s virtuoso piano and Barenboim clarinets are the perfect frame for Pereyra’s anguished and romantic interpretations of traditional tangos that get refreshed in their decidedly modern arrangements.
Emilio Teubal:
Emilio Teubal, Argentinean, born in Spain, has lived for more than a decade in NYC where he earned a BFA in jazz performance from the City College of New York graduating Magna Cum Laude. He has also been awarded with the prestigious Meet The Composer's Van Lier Fellowship 2007 .He has performed in some of the most prestigious jazz clubs in NYC such us Blue Note, Birdland, Sweet Rhythm, Dizzy's Coca Cola Club, Joes Pub, Cornelia Street Cafe, 55 Bar and The Knitting Factory among others. Emilio has been a member of different New York based music ensembles such as Sebastian Cruz's Coba, Los Chantas Tango Group, and the Marta Gomez’s group, with whom he has toured the USA, Mexico, Spain and Argentina.
Emilio Teubal's group ,La Balteuband, have released two crittically aclaimed albums: "La Balteuband" (2006), and the recenteley released "Un monton de notas" (2009)
Ivan Barenboim:
Ivan Barenboim, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, is an accomplished clarinetist and recorder player. He has played throughout Argentina, Europe and the United States in different venues and festivals. His music has been performed at the Teatro National Cervantes in Buenas Aires, at Sala Beckett in Barcelona Spain and at the GREC Festival de Barcelona. Ivan lives in New York and since 2007 has been Artist in Residence at Central Synagogue. Recently he has performed with Joan Baez at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center as part of the Mercedes Sosa Tribute.  
Pablo Pereyra:
Trained as an actor and Tango singer, Pablo Pereyra has performed in numerous capacities in Buenos Aires and New York.  His work recently captured the attention of Backstage Magazine, which said: "He sings with gusto, dramatic intensity, and a larger-than-life charm." Peyrera studied philosophy, film directing, and acting in his native Buenos Aires, Argentina, with renowned teachers Norman Brisky and Augusto Fernandes. His many theater, film, and TV credits include: Comando Mogo, which he wrote and directed, Bar de Mala Muerte, El Paseo de Maltecci, El Barrio del Angel Gris, Ionesqueadas (three plays by Lonesco), and La Fosa-Acción Residual.
He has recently directed and performed at Mariela Franganillo’s “Tango Connection” and “Tango Noir”.
